1. What River is
River is a free service from Waterfall that connects younger people with anonymized stories shared by older adults. Stories are not advice. They are lived experiences, shared with consent, for you to take what is useful.
River is not a substitute for professional help — medical, legal, financial, or psychological. If you are in crisis, please contact emergency services or a licensed professional.
2. Your account
You sign in with Google. You must be at least 13 years old to use River. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure.
You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deletion is immediate — your account, your saved questions, and your favorites are purged from our systems right away. There is no grace period and no way to recover the account afterward.
3. What you can do
- Ask questions, browse stories, save favorites.
- Use River for your own personal reflection, learning, or curiosity.
What you may not do
- Use River to harm, harass, deceive, or discriminate against any person or group.
- Attempt to deanonymize, identify, or contact the storytellers.
- Scrape, resell, republish, or re-upload the stories without our written permission.
- Use River to train, fine-tune, or benchmark machine-learning models or AI systems.
- Circumvent our rate limits, security controls, or content moderation.
4. The stories
All stories on River are shared by older adults who have given their consent for the story to be distributed. Names and identifying details are removed before a story is visible on River. Storytellers may revoke consent at any time, in which case we remove their stories from the service.
Stories remain the property of their storytellers and of Waterfall. Your license to view them is personal and non-transferable.
5. No warranty
River is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that any story will fit your situation, that the service will be error-free, or that it will be continuously available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Waterfall disclaims all implied warranties and shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of River.
6. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you through the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continued use of River after a change means you accept the new terms.
